Davis triumphs for first Professional Win

Hayley Davis winner of the Bossey Ladies Championship 2019

We are delighted to announce that Honorary Member Hayley Davis has won her first professional event on the LET Access Tour in France. She played some magnificent golf throughout the week and claimed a 7 shot victory which also shot her to the top of the Road to La Largue Standings. The Road to La Largue is the Order of Merit for the LET Access Tour and Hayley has put herself in a very strong position to gain her tour card for the Ladies European Tour for the 2019/2020 season. Hayley said “getting my card is obviously the big goal for the year but the way I’m playing, the position I’m in now, I’d love to win it (Order of Merit) and this will definitely be my goal now because after this I’ll be in a good position at the top of the order of merit and with a few more solid events I’ll have a good chance.” The top 5 players at the end of the season are given their Tour Cards for the Ladies European Tour.

Hayley started the tournament in superb form and fired an opening 6 under par 65, this included 7 birdies and it put her in a really strong position for the next two days. After Day 1 she had a comfortable 3 shot lead over her nearest competitors. The next day was even better, 7 birdies again, sublime, but she topped the round off with a Hole in One on the par 3 4th hole. This fired her on her way to shooting consecutive 65's and a 36 hole total of 12 under par. Her second 65 of the week had seen her take her lead from 3 to 8 shots and put herself in a very commanding position for the final day.

Day 3 came around and this was the chance for Hayley to cap off an already successful season, she had found herself in this position before in previous events in the year and had fallen just short. However she used those experiences to cap off the tournament with a 1 under par 70, which showed her great drive and determination to not give up and this was enough for a 7 shot victory. A moment to remember for the 26 year old who told the LET Access Tour “I can’t believe I’ve actually done it. I’ve been close quite a few times now so to finally get it and in the way I did it I’m very happy."

Everyone at Ferndown who found out the news was absolutely delighted and recognise what a great achievement it was to see her win following all the hard work over the past years. We would like to wish Hayley every success for the remainder of the season and we are keeping our fingers crossed that she can go on and secure her LET card for next season. This victory has certainly given her a great chance, and she could even go on and win the Order of Merit if she continues her current form.

Hayley herself has said she would like to give a big thank you out to all of the members who have participated in the Hayley Davis Gold Sponsorship Scheme. She is extremely grateful for the help and support and she could not do it without the help of the members at Ferndown along with all of her people behind the scenes. If you still haven't taken part in the sponsorship and would like to then please come and see us in the office for more information. It is crucial that we continue to show her as much support as possible in order to allow her to rise through the ranks of Ladies' Professional Golf.
