Salterns Alliss Merlo Presentation

On Friday 6th February 2015 the annual Presentation of wheelchairs and monies raised from the Salterns Alliss Merlo Golf Day last September took place in the Clubhouse.

Following the opening remarks by Derek Silk, Mike Fenner was introduced to summarise finances from the last 28 years of the Salterns Alliss Merlo and reaching the outstanding total of £1 million pounds donated by the charity. 

Peter Alliss was invited to say a few words and presented a plaque to Mike Scully from J M Scully Ltd (sponsor of the new format 2015 event) for his support over the 28 years the charity event has been running.

From the proceeds of the 2014 event, £10,000 was allocated to the Captain's Charity Account. 2014 Captain John Ainsworth presented cheques to his chosen charities which were Lewis Manning Trust, Friends of Dolphin and New Forest Sailability. 

A cheque for £5,000 was presented to Maria Tidy from Lewis Manning Trust

A cheque for £2,500 was presented to Robert Irwin from Friends of Dolphin

A cheque of £2,500 was presented to Eric Blythe from New Forest Sailability.

Mo Tomlinson then announced the names of the 19 recipients of the wheelchairs and walkers selected by the Peter Alliss Wheelchair Charity. The sum of £40,000 had been raised from the 2014 Tournament. 

A total of £50,000 donated to charities from the 2014 tournament.

Club Captain 2015, John Russell announced his chosen charities for the year as Alzheimers Research, Pancreatic Cancer and MacMillan Caring Locally and thanked the Tournament Committee for their support. 

The new format “Peter Alliss Invitational Charity AM-AM” was announced by Derek Silk and thanks were expressed to Peter Alliss, John Smith and all the teams for their support over the 28 years. The total money donated to local charities since the event began in 1987 is just over £1 million. 

The new event will be continuing to support the Peter Alliss Wheelchair Crusade and the Captain’s local charities.

Following a photo shoot in the Lounge a buffet lunch was served in the dining room.
