Triathlon with a Twist

What started as an outline idea a year ago finally came to fruition last Friday.  As the day neared the weather forecast kept on getting worse and on the day we knew what we were in for and it wasn't going to be good!  20 ladies took part in an activity and a small team of supporters made sure that the day ran smoothly. These determined ladies of Ferndown GC were not going to let the rain spoil the day.  If we needed extra inspiration the baton used was a 2012 Olympics baton!

A team of runners met at the golf club and ran 7K to Go Ape at Moors Valley. The rain did not let up and they were soaked to the skin when they arrived with big smiles on their faces at Moors Valley.  Here another team picked up the baton and took on the Go Ape Tree Tops Challenge.

This is the biggest Go Ape Challenge and put a few nerves to the test including mine!  It was also made more challenging by the extremely wet and breezy conditions but we all supported each other and completed the challenge.  It was great to do the final zip wire, at the end of which our team of cyclists and supporters were waiting.

The baton was handed to the cyclists for their 5 mile cycle back to the club. A muddy affair mostly on the Castleman Trailway. They set off smiling and were still smiling when they arrived safely back at the club ready for a hot shower.

A massive thank you from me to everyone who took part or helped on the day.  A superb team effort and so much fun.  To date just over £1900 has been raised and you can still donate by visiting our Just Giving page.  Alternatively cash donation can be made in the office.
