Festival Week - 23 May to 1 June 2021

After a wet start to the Men’s Open, on the Sunday, our week-long festival of golf quickly improved with the weather warming up and the sun making a regular appearance, even for the Junior Open, so often played in the rain in the last few years. The golf course looked and played amazingly, following a very challenging start to the season when we were either really wet or bone dry!! Thank you, Danny Murray, Courses Manager and your team.

Whilst adopting the COVID restrictions everyone had a great time assisted by the many willing member volunteers under the guidance of ‘Festival Ted’, David Darts and ‘new kid’ on the block Jem Fearon.
Finally, when the golf was done, we were all treated to some fabulous food and service by our caterer Will Sands and his team.

Kevin Garwood, Head Professional made sure all the scores were properly recorded and the results published in good time, and no DQ’s!  

This year’s winners were:

• Mens Open – Ian Fairclough (10), Ferndown – 37 points on c/b

• Seniors Open – Robert Lewns (6) – Broadstone GC – 39 Points

• Ladies Open – Julie Robinson(16), Catrin Roberts (14) & Gill Williams (9) from Betchworth Park  – 71 points

• ProAm – NoFinBirdie Andy Lear, Michael Barron and Rob Lear (Hindhead) and Mark Wiggett Pro (Dudsbury) – 16 Under par

• Mens 4BBB – William Crawford (11) & Terry Harrison (17)  - 43 Points c/b

• Mixed Open – Jill Heda (19 @ Stoneham) and David Heda (10 @ Meon Valley) with 45 points 

• Junior Open – Lilli Horn (Ferndown) with a gross 73

As ever our thanks to Sue Helliker who made sure everyone who entered got a tee time and did all the organising for the events.
