Peter Alliss renames Ferndown Golf Club’s 9 hole course ‘The Alliss Course’

On Monday 7th September Ferndown Golf Club is hosting the launch of the “Peter Alliss Invitational” Charity Am-Am sponsored by JM Scully Ltd.

Previous in 2014 the Salterns Alliss Merlo Pro Celebrity  competition which came to a close after 28 years broke through the million pound barrier with the monies donated to providing powered wheelchairs to local disabled children together with the Club Captain’s chosen charities.

On Monday following a bucks fizz breakfast, teams will play 18 holes on Ferndown’s Championship ‘Old Course’. Late afternoon, guests will join Peter Alliss at the currently titled ‘Presidents Course’ renaming it ‘The Alliss Course’ in recognition of the Clubs long association with the Alliss family namely Percy Alliss who was the head Professional from 1939 to 1967 and a member of the Ryder Cup team on 4 occasions. Peter Alliss began his golfing career at Ferndown prior to becoming a Tournament Professional and was a member of the Ryder Cup Team on 8 occasions.

Golfers and honoured guests are then invited to a gourmet dinner with Peter Alliss himself as well as a presentation from guest speaker Steve Rider. The auction will be hosted by Mike Osman which hopes to raise a considerable amount for the charities with great prizes including a week in a luxury villa.
